According to long time club supporter Micheal Gijsberts, "A party was held for Sjel last Friday at the DutchCare Hostel, because of the naming after him, of part of the stadium at his old Club in Holland. The Hall was decorated in Orange and Red, White and Blue Dutch flags. About 50 guests sang his former Club song. Speeches were made. Rick van Duppen [former Ringwood City coach] was present also, as he is a nephew of Sjel."
