Under 16 girls: Ringwood City 7 – Yarraville 2

Monday, the 7th. May 2012, 09:14 by Matt Winzenried

HT: 3-1

The “Woods” Jekyll & Hyde season continues. The girls put in a heavy session at training, and the result was there to see on the park.  From the kick off , the girls meant business and threatened  the Yarra Ville goal early doors with Nicola P. and Chelsea S. both going close.  It wasn’t long before Ringwood had scored thru Chelsea Schaper; who went onto complete her hat-trick within 30 minutes. Yarra sneaked one  straight after the Woods third and then ‘keeper Courtney Jamonts pulled of a miraculous penalty after a hand ball incident.  In the second half the “Woods” continued to score with two goals from the pocket rocket Jacqui Morton, Chelsea added a fourth and Liv Bridgford capped the day with a brilliant run and goal from outside the 18 yard box, the “Woods” too missed a penalty in the dying moments and lost a 2nd near the end. Today was Ringwood’s day with a good win and great individual performances all over the ground.

Under 16 girls 1 – South Melbourne 13

Monday, the 30th. April 2012, 17:04 by Matt Winzenried

RINGWOOD CITY FC – 1 SOUTH MELBOURNE WFC – 13
HT: 0-6

After the Euphoria of last weeks home win , the U16 Girls came crashing down this week , when South Melbourne came calling to Jubilee Park .  South gave the “Woods” an early warning shot when they hit the post and bar within the opening seconds of the match .  After the early scare the match settled down with both sides continuing to test each other out , before South’s moved up a gear and were 3-0 up within the first fifteen minutes .  This pattern continued with the “woods” defence trying gallantly to stop a very talented South Melbourne forward line .   It wasn’t long before South’s were 6-0 up and thankfully the referee blew for half time , before they could inflict more pain.  Read more »

U16 girls – Ringwood 2 – Monbulk Rangers 1

Monday, the 23rd. April 2012, 11:16 by Matt Winzenried

HT : 1-0

After the disappointment of last week’s defeat , the Ringwood girls had put in a determined effort at training this week hoping to make up for the opening match loss. It was clear the girls had understood the game plan and went for a quick goal to settle the nerves and allow them to play their football with more control. Captain Erin Hall had won the toss , giving Rangers the kick off , and the “woods” quickly won possession and went on the attack with striker Chelsea Schaper narrowly missing the right hand corner with the first attack . As both sides started to test each other out “the woods” defence showed they were not going to beaten easily today. Finally after five minutes Chelsea Schaper latched onto a thru ball after some great build up work by Liv B, B.Tash and Erin Hall in midfield and slammed the opener in the corner of the Monbulk net. This seamed to unleash the shackles a little and ‘the woods” continued the press for the next ten minutes, forcing the Monbulk defence to make some scrambled goal-line clearances . The remainder of the half was end to end stuff with keeper Courtney Jamonts in sparkling form picking balls from the air and stopping some great point blank shots . Read more »

Under 16B girls: Glen Waverley 4 – Ringwood 1

Monday, the 16th. April 2012, 09:01 by Matt Winzenried

The opening match for the girls was played in brilliant sunshine at Wheelers Hill.  After a cagey opening by both teams , it was Glen Waverley who managed to get  the early break through, with the Ringwood defence failing to clear their lines allowing the Glen striker to get an early goal. This early  loss sparked the girls into life and they began to hold their shape more in midfield and string a few passes  together with the hard working Tash Addamo and Kara Sampson leading the charge feeding some great balls to the strikers only for them to narrowly shoot wide.
