In late 2008 Ringwood City joined with Mooroolbark, Boronia and Montrose Soccer clubs to initiate an Intra club Gala Day program for the MiniRoos participants in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne.  Croydon City Arrows joined the group in 2009.

What are the objectives of Gala Days?

The aim is to provide youngest participants of the world game an opportunity to experience ‘club vs club’ football in an environment that promotes participation, fun and fair play without the hassles associated with week-by-week home-and away fixtures.

What is the Gala Day format?

Each club organises its participants into teams of 4-7 players in 2 age groups (U7 and U5/6).  Each team plays 2 games against teams in the same age group from the other clubs.  Each game is 2 x 15 minute halves with a short half-time break and a longer break between each game.

Football Federation Australia’s MiniRoos formats and rules apply – so a maximum of 4 players per team on the ground at any time with games played on a 20m x 30m pitch.  There are no goalkeepers and rules are kept to a minimum.

How often do Gala Days occur?

Each of the participating clubs hosts a Gala Day each year, so there are 5 Gala Days during the year at approximately 3-4 week intervals during the winter season.

A Gala Day schedule is provided early in the season and specific details for each day (including timetables, fixtures and team compositions) is provided via Email during the two weeks prior to the Gala Day.

The tentative schedule for this year’s Eastern Region SSF Gala Days is:

TBC

PLEASE NOTE:

The above dates may change as the year evolves.  Please check this website for updates.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to register your child’s possible / probable attendance at each upcoming Gala Day on the weekly sign in sheet.  The number of participants determines the both the number of teams and the fixtures for the day.  A failure to register may result in the child not being assigned to a team.
