Peter Kalogeropoulos – Senior Men’s Coach
How would (someone) describe you?
An Approachable person, has bad jokes, sociable and committed to things I value – a family man, good Greek boy lol
What’s your first memory of playing football?
First memory apart from playing the backyard with my brothers is my first proper training session at around 11 years of age. South Wantirna soccer club on the main pitch, thinking – I’m going to play on the pitch like a real soccer player!
What’s the best and worst thing to happen to you in your football career?
hard to name the best thing, I was able to be part of a championship winning team at Bundoora Utd many years ago, but also got to play at AAMI park for Melbourne victory in a fundraiser game! My last game before I retired, I came on at the 80th minute and assisted the winning goal to end 4-3
I had a few worsts as well – scoring in a game but then being sent off and costing the team a win is one, and one time I was sacked as a coach over the phone was a low point as well.
What teams other than Ringwood City do you support?
I’m a long-term tragic Liverpool Fan!
Support Melbourne victory locally – I pretty much follow a team in each country, not as supportive as I am for Liverpool of course: (Borussia Dortmund – real Madrid – AC Milan, PSG – LA Galaxy)
Who is your favourite player of all time?
Steven Gerrard is my all-time favourite – but I was a fan David Beckham but only supported him once he went to real Madrid and after haha!
What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?
from the age of 12 – 26 I was an avid drum player, I really enjoyed it and played in a couple of bands when at high school.
What were your first impressions of Ringwood City?
I was lucky enough to play at Ringwood in 2006/07 returning from a long-term ankle injury a few years before. I was welcomed at the club and there was a great environment and culture at the club. I always felt that one day I may return to the club.
What has surprised you most about Ringwood City?
the only thing that has surprised me is that some people still don’t realise the rich history of this club and the pinnacle it was many years ago – it’s something I want to bring back to the club!
What do you hope to achieve at Ringwood City?
my hope is that I can bring back the Competitiveness and respect towards the Ringwood name. I hope to make a long-term sustainable culture at the club where players are motivated to achieve at their highest potential and want to represent this club to the highest level possible.
What do you do when you aren’t at Jubilee Park?
Mainly think about what I will do when back at Jubilee, lol. But mostly spend quality time with my beautiful 21-month daughter Amelia and my very supportive wife Jaimee.
If you could invite anyone to a dinner party, who would be your 5 guests be and what would you cook for them?
This is a hard one, but here we go:
- Steven Gerrard
- David Beckham
- Jurgen Klopp
- Dwayne -the ROCK – Johnson
- guy Sebastian
I’d obviously cook a Big Lamb spit!
With the disappointment of season 2020 being called off what are you most looking forward to for season 2021?
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with this group of players to develop and work towards becoming the team that gets noticed for years to come. I’m also looking forward to creating the environment with the club and committee that will ensure this club becomes the club
